A set of filter chambers is formed by alternately arranged filter plates and filter frames. The filter frame and the filter plate have through holes at the corners, which form a complete channel after assembly, which can pass into the suspension, washing water and filtrate. Each side of the plate frame has handles supported on the beam, and the filter cloth between the filter plate and the plate frame is pressed by the pressing device to act as a sealing gasket. The suspension is pressed into the filter chamber by a feed pump to form a filter residue on the filter cloth until the filter chamber is filled. The filtrate passes through the filter cloth and flows to the corner channel of the plate frame along the groove of the filter plate, and is discharged centrally. After filtration, clean washing water can be passed to wash the filter residue. After washing, compressed air is sometimes introduced to remove the remaining washing liquid. Then open the filter press to remove the filter residue, clean the filter cloth, re-press the plate and frame, and start the next working cycle.
Plate and frame filter press can be applied to suspensions with large or nearly incompressible filter residue. The solid particle concentration of the suitable suspension is generally less than 10%, and the operating pressure is generally 0.3-0.6 MPa, especially up to 3 MPa or higher. The filtration area can be increased or decreased with the number of plates and frames used. The plate frame is usually square, the inner side length of the filter frame is 320-2000mm, the frame thickness is 16-80mm, and the filter area is 1-1200 m2. The plate and the frame are compacted by manual screw, electric screw and hydraulic pressure. The plates and frames are made of wood, cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel, polypropylene and rubber.
3. Model and type of filter press-van filter press
The structure and working principle of the box-type filter press are similar to those of the plate-and-frame filter press. The difference is that the two sides of the filter plate are recessed, and every two filter plates are combined into a box-shaped filter chamber, eliminating the filter frame and the middle of the filter plate. There is a round hole. The suspension thus flows into each filter chamber. This filter is suitable for suspensions that need to be filtered at higher pressures and the filter residue does not need to be washed.
